I’m Kayt, and I love photographing people. My camera and I have trekked out in the rain, sleet, snow, and subzero temperatures; driven hundreds of miles, left the house before dawn, and contorted into all sorts of awkward positions in public – just to get the perfect shot.
I have a background in fashion styling, set design, and commercial photography, but I think everyone deserves the kind of planning and customization that goes into a big-budget production. I want to help you create your photo- not someone else’s.

Fine art photography is carefully planned- from location, props, wardrobe, and hair to color palette and lighting- all with the final image in mind. Portraiture attempts to capture the whole of a person- their mood and personality- beyond just outward appearance. Combining these two concepts, I like to talk to my clients about what kind of art they like, their own story, and work with them to translate that into something they can cherish and enjoy looking at every single day. I do plan general posing, but in some cases there is a bit of whimsy involved once we get the whole set under control, especially when photographing children. My plans are never so rigid we all have a miserable time- I want you to have a great experience you remember every time you see your photo! But I do aim to create something meaningful that’s more than just a snapshot.
This style of photography works for just about any kind of portrait- engagement, maternity, family, seniors, toddlers, kids, teens… I enjoy the challenge of making beautiful art out of any subject and, as I said, I like photographing people.
Your child should be able to dress him/herself, but they don’t have to be good at it. That will vary for every child, but I think somewhere between 2.5 – 3 years old is when kids start to really enjoy things like hats and layering. So somewhere between there and 115.
Absolutely! There is always room for more options in any dressup closet, and I especially love when people bring meaningful items that they never have an excuse to wear or use; grandpa’s eyeglasses, grandma’s hats, mom’s old prom dress, even an old pair of ratty combat boots that are much too big for your 3 year-old. Sometimes families have such amazing collections of things that we can use these as jumping off points for planning Custom Shoots as well. Yes and yes. Any larger group booking is a great use of The Dressup Sessions, as it allows kids to find their own wardrobe if they want, but also be able to supplement with my own ginormous box of goodies. Booking for larger groups also makes these shoots much more affordable for each family. Inquire to learn more!
Your investment will vary depending on the shooting plan, how many looks, how elaborate, whether you want holiday cards or a giant print, etc. For a more budget-friendly option, consider The Dressup Sessions, which start at $500 and can be planned for larger groups of families to divide my hourly cost. I do try to work within my clients’ budgets to craft Custom Shoots- please Inquire to learn more!
Probably not, although I do like referencing old paintings.
My studio is in Worcester, Massachusetts and I travel frequently around Central Massachusetts and to the Greater Boston area. I am available for travel across New England, however I do charge extra for commutes over 30 minutes.
No. My aim is to get you one photo you are so truly in love with you hang it on your wall. I’m not trying to capture every single moment of whoever steps in front of my camera. I want that perfect look, the perfect head tilt, the perfect smile. I then spend hours working on each photo individually, so that, once printed, it is truly a work of art. All that said, we often do wind up with a few photos that are all equally incredible and hard to choose between, and sometimes we plan extra wardrobe looks or the toddler looked so amazing in her pairing of aviation goggles with a pink tutu and rollerskates that one photo doesn’t feel quite fair… as a general rule, I aim for 3 photos per wardrobe look.
Wardrobe styling is pretty much my second favorite thing (after photography) so of course I will! We can talk colors, styles, fit, and sourcing. I also have an incredible collection of designer and vintage wardrobe pieces and accessories we can pull from. Inquire to talk clothes.
This is dependent on the subject and style of the photo, sometimes- especially for children- simple is best. I have hair and makeup artists I can recommend, and I am flexible if you already have someone in mind or prefer to do your own. Please Inquire today- I’m happy to talk about this too!
Sounds like a case for draping. I can make you a custom dress on the spot in almost any style, and no one will ever guess it was just a sheet of gorgeous fabric.
I don’t offer live wedding coverage, but am happy to plan portrait sessions with the bridal party, the bride and groom, or any other group that wants something a little extra special.
